Set in rural Rajasthan, 'Balika Vadhu' traces the arduous journey of child bride Anandi from the point of childhood to adulthood. Married at the tender age of eight, to an equally young Jagdish, you enter a strange new world that is torn and confused. and away from the joy of childhood and of his family, must accept and adjust to this new family of strangers, new relationships and accept her role as friend, lover, wife and mother as she forges her way ofthe world. 'Balika Vadhu' very sensitive portrays the situation of children who are unwittingly forced into marriage in the name of tradition, and must bear the consequences for the rest of their lives.
