Dundee & Tayside - Tuesday, November 30, 2010

Blood donors are being urged to roll up their sleeves as the severe weather and festive party season threaten supplies. Dozens of donor sessions have been cancelled in Tayside this week.... just as the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service makes its annual winter appeal. A ward at Dundee's Ninewells Hospital has been closed to new admissions following several cases of what's thought to be the winter vomiting bug. The closure of Ward 6 to new patients is a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of the Norovirus bug. A flood awareness campaign targetting 15000 homes and businesses has been launched in Tayside and Fife. The Scottish Environment Protection Agency is encouraging those who're living or working in " at risk " areas to be aware of how flooding might affect them. They also want people to make sure they know what action they need to take to protect themselves and their property.
